Main Town

Kuah is Langkawi's main town and it is the entry point to the island and it also the transit point for ferries to the neighboring islands of Langkawi Tourism. Datai Bay (Teluk Datai)

Datai Bay has combination of forests and sea. The milky beach is backed by lush forest. Visiotrs can take Langkawi Island Cable Car to the peak of Gunung Mat Chinchang, where the Langkawi Sky Bridge is located. It has the most exclusive golf course on the Langkawi island. 

Underwater World Langkawi

Situated along Pantai Cenang. The Underwater World Langkawi is one of the largest aquariums in Asia. It facilitate with a 15m-long walk through tunnel from which you can view more than 5,000 kinds of marine life in over 100 tanks. The building is a duty-free shopping complex.

Pulau Payar Marine Park

It is located 30km south of Langkawi tourism zone. This marine park extends over a number of islands with Pulau Payar being the largest. It takes an hour to get there from the Kuah Jetty by speedboat.

There is a floating platform moored off Pulau Payar which has a restaurant and underwater observation chamber to view the marine life surrounding a reef. It is a good area for snorkelling or taking rides in glass-bottomed boats.

Gua Langsir

To the North is Gua Langsir (Cave of the Banshee) which is reputedly haunted. The belief may thousands of bats which live in the interior of the 91m high cave.

Sungai Klim

For the adventurous, Langkawi offering some truly unforgettable sights and experiences. A tour that is bound to provide plenty of thrills to those who are game is the boat cruise to Kilim Nature Park, an escapable to another world. Spread over an area of 100 sq. km. On the trail, along the calm winding river, you will be exposed to the wonders of the park’s marine ecosystem, flora and fauna and its natural habitats like the overhanging “Bogak Trees”, Brown Eagles, Tree Crabs, Iguanas and Macaques. Enjoy the scenic and spectacular views of unique limestone rock formations emerging from the floor of the mangrove swamps and the sea. These fascinating geological wonders have been variously dubbed as the Temple of Borobodur, the Elephant Stone and the Hanging Gardens.

Explore Gua Cerita (Cave of Legends) and Gua Kelawar (Bat Cave) steeped in fabled tales of mystery and romance. There are indeed many memories for you to bring back when your journey ends.


International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) (biennial)

Langkawi Tourism also well known of it maritime and aerospace event such as Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) (biennial) event. This biennial event is a showcase of the latest equipment and technology in the aerospace, air defence and civil aviation industries.

The event takes place from end November till early December on the fabulous island of Langkawi. There are exhibitions of boats, automobiles, helicopters, mobile troop carriers and land vehicles as well as a good selection on the world’s most advanced aircraft and equipment. Le Tour De' Langkawi

Other Langkawi Tourism big event such as Le Tour De’ Langkawi. It is Modelled after the famous ‘Le Tour De’ France’, this top-notch race held over two weeks each year in February sees the world’s best cyclists test their mental strength and physical endurance the limit.

The gruelling multi-stage race flags off in the fabulous island of Langkawi and traverses the length and breadth of Peninsular Malaysia before reaching he finishing line in Kuala Lumpur.

Car Rental

Travel Langkawi by driving yourself to discover the attraction places in Langkawi Tourism paradise is very pleasant driving. Make sure you have a valid licience. Don’t forget your Langkawi map. Driving on this Island is stress-free and definitely safe. Most of all is you can enjoy the gorgeous panorama around the island as much as you want.

Normally you only pay about MYR80.00 to MYR150.00 per day. But if you rent a new and imported car it may be more. How ever you have many choice of vehicle to choose depending on your budget. But don’t worry local made car also excellent in condition such as Malaysian made Proton model such as Saga, Wira, Perdana, Waja, Putra, Satria, Juara and Gen2. Perodua model such Kancil, Kembara, Rusa and Kelisa.

It is difficult to drive a car that not usual to you especially to drive on right hand. Why not have a try as it is a good experience and the best thing is you drive on an island where not many traffic as in the big city like Kuala Lumpur, as long you fasten your sit belt and don’t drive on the right side of the street... Motorbike Rental

If you want to travel by Motorbike around Langkawi, motorbike is the easiest way to go any where around Langkawi. Minimum cost hiring motorbikes of all size is RM25-40 a day. There are many places that rent motorbike. Licience may be needed. The roads are excellent, pleasant and easy riding. Must put on your helmet.

Bicycle Rental

Travel by bicycle around Langkawi, bicycle is also available for hiring. It cost you RM12.00 per day.


Seem there are only a few bus routes that may take few hours to wait. So you may waste plenty of time if you have a short visit to Langkawi. So, to go around by bus may not be recommended. It is better you hire a taxi. There are taxi stands at jetty terminal, at major shopping centres and in central Kuah town.


All taxis don’t have metered but the fare is reasonable and cheap. The fares are set before get in the taxi to any destinations around the island. Taxi also can be rented according to the hour or day. The cost is about RM15 an hour. It is negotiable and depending on the time spending and waiting involved. Taxi which have licensed can be identified by it yellow roof.

There are services of "shared-taxis". This service is very popular among tourists. You can find them down in Kuah town. Fare is normally RM1 for anywhere in Kuah town. For longer rides sometimes you will be charged for RM2. It is easy to get share-taxi because most of them will honk you as they approach you. This shared mini-vans can be identified by blue waves painted on the sides.

Ferry Service

If you're staying at the marina on Rebak Island, it will depend on the resort's ferry service to get to Port Langkasuka on the main island. Return trip costs RM5.00 and it runs every hour or so from 0730 hours to 2030 hours, with the last ferry back to Rebak at 2145 hours. You may need to ask the resort concierge to arrange a taxi to wait for you at Port Langkasuka. It would be wise to check taxi-fares at the terminals to prevent you from being overcharged as charges are not metered.

To Get to Langkawi


Langkawi tourism zone is accessible by ferry from either Kuala Kedah (75 minutes) or Kuala Perlis (45 minutes). Ferry usually leaves on the hour from 7.00 am to 6.00 pm. Both ferry terminals offer very safe and ample parking facilities. The cost is at about MR5 per day.


There are daily flights to Langkawi tourism zone from Kuala Lumpur which land at Langkawi International Airport.

Langkawi is also accessible by Malaysia Airlines or Silkair from Singapore. It takes only about one and a half hours.

You also can fly by Malaysia Airlines or Air Asia direct from Kuala Lumpur to this island that will take you less than one and a half hours.

International Airlines

Many international airlines offer non-stop flights to either Singapore airport or Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) from Asia, Australia, the Middle East, Europe and North America.
